Early recognition of deteriorating patients and prevention of cardiac arrest is the first link in the Chain of Survival. All healthcare staff should know how to summon assistance whether they have patient contact or not and preferably be able to administer Basic Life Support.
This e learning will cover assessment of an unwell patient, including risk of cardiac arrest, choking or anaphylaxis. It will also introduce what to do when encountering a collapsed or sick patient, including looking for signs of life; assessing ABCDE (airway, breathing, circulation, disability, exposure), calling for help, carrying out Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and using an automated external defibrillator (AED).
This e learning can be used by all healthcare staff or the wider public to increase awareness of Basic Life Support for adults.
