All healthcare staff should know how to summon assistance whether they have patient contact or not and preferably be able to administer Basic Life Support.
This e learning will cover assessment of an unwell infants and children including risk of cardiac arrest, choking or anaphylaxis. It will also introduce what to do when encountering a collapsed or sick infant or child, including looking for signs of life; assessing ABCDE (airway, breathing, circulation, disability, exposure), calling for help and carrying out Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
This e learning can be used by all healthcare staff or the wider public to increase awareness of Basic Life Support for infants and children.
