An e-learning module providing training for NHS staff on their organisation's planned responses and arrangements for dealing with major incidents and emergencies.

The module identifies what constitutes a major incident and highlights the importance of major incident planning. The module covers relevant legislation and defines the roles, responsibilities and key elements of Category One and Category Two responders.

The e learning provides an awareness of the different types of emergencies and emphasises the role of Command and Control in handling such situations.

The roles, responsibilities and function of hospitals and other emergency services in the event of a major incident are explained and deals specifically with the management of chemical, biological, radiation and other contamination incidents.
